Our birthday celebration for the month of October will be held at Hideaway Pizza at 8302 Phoenix Ave, Fort Smith. They have a $7.99 lunch special that includes a two topping individual pizza with salad or a pasta with salad. The birthday girls are Ileen D and Michelle H (Oct 3), Sabrina T (Oct 17), Amy G (Oct 14), Linda S (Oct 19), and Claire S (Oct 28).

Thursday, October 24 11:30 a.m. Book Club
We will be discussing, The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. We will meet in November on the third Thursday, the 21st. We have decided to have everyone pick a biography or auto- biography of her own choice to read for November and be prepared to share five
things you learned about your biographical subject. You can share the bio of a Presi-
dent, a movie star like Sally Field’s In Pieces or a first lady like Michelle Obama’s Becoming. Biographies are in Section 92 of the library. Library2Go (Fort Smith’s audio and ebook source) lists 1600 biographies--1100 ebooks and close to 500 audiobooks.

This year’s Halloween dinner will be at Colton’s Steak House and Grill, 33 Access Avenue, Van Buren, on Wednesday Oct 30 at 6:30~costumes optional~. RSVP Janet M .
New member Cindy F is interested in forming a Needlecraft group for people who like to knit, crochet, cross stitch, embroider, do needlepoint, tatting and smocking. It’s great fun to share patterns, techniques, etc. Let her know if you would prefer meeting weekly or monthly, at a public place like the library or at member homes, and what times and week days work for you.
Welcome Neighbor has selected the Junior League of Fort Smith’s “Project Ready” as the beneficiary of its annual auction-luncheon, which will be held at Hardscrabble Country Club on Thursday, De- cember 5. The luncheon price will still be $15. Project READY (Real Education & Development for Youth) offers “Skills-for-Life--a monthly life skills class offered to foster care teens ages 14-21. The classes often include such topics that most might take for granted, including how to handle: person- al hygiene, peer pressure, stress, housing applications, college applications, job applications, basic finances, vehicle maintenance, and more!”
